Stavanger is a city and municipality in Norway. It is the third largest city in Norway. Stavanger counts its official founding year as 1125, the year the Stavanger Cathedral was completed. The most impressive monument is the Monument to the Battle of Hafrsfjord - The Stavanger region was where Norway once became united into one kingdom in the famous Viking battle that took place in Hafrsfjord in 872 AD
