Up Quito [Ecuador] Prev Next Slideshow

Returning to a rainy Quito yesterday and it was no different this morning when Jorge, our guide, picked us up for our Quito City Tour the largest historical old town in the Americas - and there is the old town and the new town, separated by just one street. Quito is situated in a valley, surrounded by volcanoes, not all of them dormant. We visited the Middle of The World - firstly the Equatorial Monument which marks the exact middle of the world - latitude 00 degrees 00"00''. This is where the country Ecuador gets its name - because the equator runs through it
