Up Broome to 80 Mile Beach, then Port Hedland Prev Next Slideshow

Western Australia; From Broome in the Kimberley Region to Port Hedland in the Pilbara region is approximately 600km of reasonably flat and mostly dry country. The coastline is attractive, but much of the development wouldn't happen without the iron ore, extracted from some of the worlds biggest mines in the Hamersley ranges. Port Hedland industry and harbour operate 24 hours per day and 365 days moving iron ore and salt to global markets, with China the major buyer of iron ore.
