| After Cobar we traveled to Wilcannia. Many travelers bypass the town because there has long been a perception, fuelled by newspaper reports and images of groups of local Aborigines standing around outside the pubs in the main street, that the town is a hotbed of violence - we saw no sign of this and felt safe walking in town. We then stopped in Broken Hill the birthplace of "The Big Australian" (BHP) for 3 nights - a most interesting town centre and old mining sites. |
